Warm reminder: Dharma masters and virtuous teachers who come to London for short-term talks to promote outstanding traditional culture may stay with us free of charge, with meals provided. Please make an appointment in advance. Thank you very much.
We also sincerely hope that this library may become Venerable Master Dinghong’s “Guanyin Pure Land Practice Place in the UK.” Our daily fixed and informal practices are centered mainly on reciting and cultivating the Great Compassion Mantra. We know deeply that we are only tiny grains of sand, yet we very much hope to make a small contribution to Venerable Master Dinghong’s work of spreading the Dharma and benefiting all beings.
Current Activities of Songfeng Traditional Culture Library in the UK
1. Providing Simple, Healthy Hot Meals for People Experiencing Homelessness
We regularly cook simple and healthy hot meals and offer them to people experiencing homelessness who are in need. We warmly welcome those with affinity to join us, bringing warmth and care with a pure heart, a sincere heart, a compassionate heart, and an enthusiastic heart.
2. Good News of Recovery for Patients, Especially Those with Serious or Terminal Illnesses
In China and around the world, many patients with complicated, serious, or terminal illnesses have experienced different degrees of recovery or improvement after qigong practice or universal-energy adjustment. This has become a common and familiar occurrence for many practitioners.
- First, we emphasize the importance of making a vow. If one’s illness improves, what can one do for one’s family and for society? One must break through the inner drain of feeling unlucky, depressed, selfish, dark, and painful, and expand the heart. One can transform the thought of illness into a rare opportunity to bear suffering on behalf of all beings, and gradually turn the meaning of one’s life toward joyfully benefiting all beings. Only when the power of one’s vow is greater than the power of karma can the causes and effects of illness-karma be changed. Those with religious faith may sincerely make vows before Buddhas, Bodhisattvas, God, or sacred beings. Those without religious faith may sincerely make vows before heaven and earth and before their own conscience. Repeating one’s vows every day is also part of healing; one should keep improving and examine whether these vows are being lived out in daily life. Plant the vow into every cell of the body and integrate it into every word and action. Only with complete dedication and a selfless state of mind can one more easily receive the positive energy of nature and the universe. The aim of this library is not only to help remove bodily suffering, but also to learn together with patients so that everyone’s spiritual quality may be further elevated.
- Within the essence of nearly ten thousand years of traditional Chinese culture, there are said to be eighty-four thousand qigong methods. As long as one keeps a good state of mind and practices any one method every day with perseverance, one will surely receive great and positive benefit. Different methods flourish like many flowers, each with its own strength. For more than forty years, we have consistently taught Chinese Crane Soaring Qigong, founded by Teacher Zhao Jinxiang. Its main advantages are that, through the five sections of moving practice, one obtains qi quickly, opens important acupoints such as Laogong, and then enters standing-post practice. Natural spontaneous qigong may then arise: the body vibrates naturally, the hands instinctively pat and press acupoints on the body, and so on. The whole process is natural, spontaneous, and deeply relaxed, similar in effect to receiving treatment from a senior qigong master or massage therapist.
- We may also introduce patients to Chang Sheng Xue, a universal-energy adjustment station. This is convenient because the adjustment stations founded by Teachers Lin and Wei are found in major cities throughout the world. We also hope, with the compassion of the respected Teacher Lin and the UK Chang Sheng Xue management team, that this library may become a Chang Sheng Xue adjustment station one day each week, benefiting more beings with affinity.
- Healthy organic food and sufficient nutrition are also important. The library has excellent senior advisers who integrate nutrition, herbs, and dietary therapy to offer guidance.
Whether to continue an existing hospital treatment plan should be carefully decided by the patient and family members according to medical advice.
3. Litter-Picking Chan: Purifying the Environment, Purifying Body and Mind
“Litter-Picking Chan” is not the smoothest phrase to say; one might easily say “litter Chan” instead. Yet the difference of one word reminds us that all dharmas are created by the mind: one pure thought is a heavenly realm. With favorable timing, place, and community, our library is only a four-minute walk from the London Greenway, a 4.3-mile green leisure corridor with a quiet environment suitable for walking, leisure, and contemplation. We welcome you to register and join us, enjoying the refreshing, peaceful, and quiet experience of purifying the green corridor in the present moment.
4. Charity Facility Repairs and Voluntary Service
The library has practical skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, masonry, and building repairs. We are long-term and willing volunteers for charitable organizations that need facility maintenance support.
If you have relevant skills, we sincerely welcome you to participate and use your abilities to serve society and benefit the public.
5. Compassionate Rescue of Wild Animals
In the busy city of London, if you encounter an injured wild animal or a young wild animal that cannot yet live independently, even taking it to a pet clinic may not solve the problem. The best approach is to take it directly to a wildlife hospital or to our library. We have prepared various solid and liquid foods, sleeping nests, and a specially built warm shelter in the garden. We will also transfer animals as quickly as possible to a large, professional, and compassionate wildlife hospital: The Broadwater Forest Wildlife Hospital.
Warm reminder: We deeply remember and are grateful to the respected Annette. She was an ordinary citizen, yet she had a pure and sacred loving heart and founded an angel-level wildlife hospital, The Broadwater Forest Wildlife Hospital. We call on kind people from all walks of life to support the hospital by donating money, offering effort as volunteers to care for wildlife, or donating materials such as medical equipment and wildlife food, so that the hospital can care for and help more and more lovely wild animals.

All operations and activities of Songfeng Library of Traditional Chinese Culture are free of charge. The library will never set up a donation box and does not accept any donations of funds or goods. The main reason is that we deeply cherish everyone’s kindness. We hope your good deeds can be returned to society by donating resources to more formal and larger-scale charitable organizations, so that more beings may benefit. In addition, the premises we use are our own property, so there are few costs.
May we together fully integrate Master Hsing Yun’s Three Acts of Goodness – doing good deeds, speaking good words, and keeping good thoughts – and the Four Givings – giving others confidence, joy, hope, and convenience – into ordinary daily life.
The library is still expanding, and our scope of service is limited. We respectfully ask for your understanding.
We sincerely hope to be heart to heart, shoulder to shoulder, and hand in hand with you, learning and progressing together as we step into the joyful pure land of the heart.
With deepest sincerity, thank you for every opportunity you have given us.
